Weekly Colloquia

The members of ICFO-SPIE and OSA student chapters are given the possibility to give a talk about their current work. A seminar is organized every week and PhD Students and undergraduate students as well as professors, postdocs and visitors are invited to give presentations. To encourage people to attend the seminar some drinks and snacks are also offered. The ICONS weekly seminars are a good opportunity for the chapter members to practice their communication and public speaking skills in front of a friendly audience, and to enhance information exchange between members and to broaden the members' knowledge in different fields of optics. The seminars are advertised on the institute's official homepage, and posters in the hallway of the institute so that the chapter gets visibility. These seminars are also means to share our knowledge and expertise with non-members interested in the field. This activity has been running successfully with much appreciations from all quarters since 2005 and as of 2007 it has became a weekly event.
