We visit local high schools and invite high school students and teachers to our institute to introduce optics to the students through presentations and demonstrations with every day examples of optics. By attending the program, students learn basic concepts such as polarization, wavlength, color, stereoscopic vision, reflection and refraction in connection to everyday experiences based on applications of optics. In one of these sessions, students are familiarized with polarization of light with plastic polarizer and liquid crystal cells. In another session, they perform a series of simple experiments with prisms, mirrors, optical fibers and laser pointers in order to play with refraction and reflection phenomena. Furthermore, they experince how stereoscopic vision works with simple gadgets, games and 3D images with 3D glasses.
