Open Day at ICFO

Our institute has created a lot of enthusiasm and interest in the scientific community in Barcelona as well general public because of the very unique research carried out by us. These factors encouraged us to organize the ICFO open days. The doors of our institute are opened for the general public for about five hours. We advertise this event in most of the nearby institutes through posters and many of our friends help us in getting this across to many others which usually results in a large number of students, teachers and others registering for the event. By attending the program, students learn basic concepts such as polarization, wavlength, color, stereoscopic vision, reflection and refraction in connection to everyday experiences based on applications of optics. After a brief introduction about the institute and research carried out here, the visitors were invited to the heart of our experimental laboratories and receive explanations about on-going research from our enthusiastic Ph.D students, post-docs, and professors in the field of Biophotonics, Nanophotonics, Quantum Optics and Plasmonics. A number of posters are also presented and our members take great care in explaining the research topics and answering the questions of the visitors.
